Holding your nerve - wait to see what emerges

I spent a fascinating day on a canal yesterday near Bratch Locks researching for a new project.  A sunny warm day, strong sunlight, branches of golden leaves overhanging the water's edge.   People quietly fishing, sheep grazing nearby and two glimpses of a bright turquoise kingfisher.
 Ideas are growing and changing and it's great to have time to let this happen at a gradual pace.  It's good not to have to know exactly what the outcomes will be just yet. With visual art (and other creative endeavours such as creative writing) you need to hold your nerve and wait to see what emerges.  Your previous experiences and skills are a lifeline...

Last week of my exhibition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery - it closes at the end of Saturday 18 May

It was good to take my cousin to see my exhibition on Saturday - it's still up and looks good.

Some more cards had sold from the shop, no more prints since the opening day and I'm not sure how many small mounted, iPad drawings have been purchased.  There were some lovely comments in the Comments Book.   One more week to go.

I'm meeting a group of students there tomorrow to explain what's involved in the technical aspects of putting up an exhibition.

I also had a look at the new Sensing Sculpture exhibition on upstairs and that looks fresh and good. More pieces by Paddison than before, which I like.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery - exhibition opening Saturday 20 April

I really enjoyed the opening yesterday - a beautiful sunny afternoon and a steady stream of lovely people coming in, having a look around, chatting and making me laugh!  Here are a few photos.

It's on for a month now - closing on Saturday 18th May.  All images are for sale via the gallery shop.
